We regret to inform you of the recent passing of our dear friend Rotarian Captain Richard Rees. His wife June has organized a memorial gathering to celebrate his life at S. Ken’s Bistro in Kao Tao, Hua Hin soi 101 on 1 September from 3.00 – 6.00 pm. Please register or decline your attendance through Club Runner before 31 August.

Please join us for the handover of the football equipment that we sponsored for three schools in Pran Buri at 5:30 pm on Friday, 8 September. The equipment is stored at Nong Hoi School and is used together by the students of the schools; Nong Hoi School, Wang Phong School and Wang Yao School. The equipment includes items such as slalom poles, sprinting markers, jump fences, goal nets and uniforms for 45 children ages 10 to 14 years old. The original handover date of 25 August was postponed due to heavy rain.

Our member Rtn. Prof. Dr. Keith Humphreys is going to give an update on the “Thai Voices” development project that he has been leading at Panyanakul School, a school for children with learning disabilities in Petchaburi, Thailand.

Please join us to commemorate the annual World Polio Day and Rotary International’s continuous effort to eradicate the polio virus around the world. RI District 3330’s Area 16 has organized this event together inviting Rotarians from RC Royal Hua Hin, RC Hua Hin, RC Prachuap Khirikhan and RC Pran Buri as well as the general public. The collective aim is to raise awareness on wildlife conservation and environmental preservation which includes the release of adult Blue Swimming crabs and 10,000 crab larvae followed by a beach-wide cleaning activity. Up to 200 attendees are expected to attend with support from the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources and the Hua Hin Municipality. Wear your END POLIO NOW shirt or another Rotary shirt and suitable beachwear, and snacks and drinking water will be provided. Please be invited to the welcome luncheon for the Australia-based ‘Cyclists with Compassion’ on the final leg of their 800 km fundraising journey from the Andaman Sea to the Gulf of Thailand on Saturday, 11 November. The cyclists have nearly achieved their fundraising target of THB 1 million to donate to the Mercy House Center for orphaned children and the luncheon sponsored by the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin is going to take place at the Mercy House Center in Pran Buri.

Please be invited to our next Water Safety & Drowning Prevention program on 13-15 November in the swimming pool of the Greenway Hua Hin Resort. The certified instructors are going to train 60 children of Khao Pitak School for three days from 8:30 am to 3:30 pm.

This is our continual community service project to address drowning, the leading cause of death for children in Thailand. Special thanks to the coordinated effort of the WSDP Committee members for making this program successful.

Please be informed that the District Governor's Annual Visit to our club has been postponed to 13 February 2024. There is no club meeting on 20 November as originally planned. Our club's next meeting is the Annual General Meeting on 28 November.

Our Annual Charity Golf Tournament will take place at the Banyan Golf Course on November 24, 2023.

Please be informed that our Annual General Meeting has been postponed to respect our Club President Prof. Dr. Helmut who is undergoing palliative care in hospital. Helmut and Christina have had many visitors this week giving support from Rotary clubs and friendships.

Please be invited to the “Sinterklaas Day for Children” at the Parrotdise Organic Farm & Café from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm on 5 December. Organized by the Dutch Society of Thailand, NVTHC (Nederlandse Verenigning Thailand in Hua Hin & Cha-am), this special day for intercultural children includes a guest appearance by Sinterklaas giving gifts to local children ages 2 – 12 years old with food, music, games and other activities. Parrotdise has a children's playground with animals and a restaurant.

Parents are asked to provide gifts for their children that they bring with them, which they will receive from Sinterklaas in the morning. Sinterklaas will depart for the E-Jan School for children with disabilities in the Black Mountain area in the afternoon to surprise them with Dutch delicacies and gifts. Donations will be collected to support the development of E-Jan School.

Please be invited to the Celebration of Life for our Rotarian Alan Brown and his family at the Banyan Golf Club on Monday, 11 December at 5:00 pm.

Alan was one of our long-term members and the Chair of the Rotary District 3330 Thailand-Australia Inter Country Service Committee for the last six years. He was also our club’s Director of Inter Club Relations actively working to develop Rotary Thailand’s Public Image around the world. He spent a lot of his time visiting Rotary clubs in Australia and Europe and was effective in building intercountry relationships while attracting participants for our joint community service projects for the underprivileged in Thailand. Born in Scotland, Alan was passionate about golf and he was a member of the Banyan Golf Club.

Our club will provide flowers on the day as well as other Rotary clubs.

Please be invited to attend the Opening Ceremony of The Rotary Foundation’s Global Grant project to “Save the Lives of Newborns” at Ratchaburi Hospital on 24 January. The new facility includes the latest technology of an incubation and phototherapy unit to help the medical professionals save the lives of newborns in Thailand. 

The GG.2456673 project was organized by the Rotary Club of Ploi Ratchaburi as the Host Sponsor club and the Rotary Club of Taipei Hwa Yueh as the International Sponsor club. The total cost of this lifesaving project was USD 41,152 with the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin as a contributing sponsor of USD 1,050.

There is going to be a student costume and talent contest with prize-giving under the theme of “Fantasy Masquerade Party” as well as one special prize given for the best-dressed spectator in the audience.

The purpose of this event is to help raise funds for the Rotaract Club and the University Student Council to carry out their community service activities for the local community, underprivileged students and disadvantaged people as they have been doing for many years. On 2-3 February, the Rotaract Club is going to renovate the ceiling and classroom wall of Baan Pa Maak Border Patrol Police School in Pala-U sub-district as they do not have adequate government funding, and also help to build the check-dam on the river to increase the water supply for the Karen tribe village.

Please be informed that the District Governor’s Annual Visit to our club is scheduled for 13 February 2024. This official meeting is held every year for the Governor to update our members on District 3330 goals and objectives as well as the latest information from Rotary International.

It is a club lunch meeting and has been postponed from the originally scheduled date of 20 November.

Please be invited to our club lunch meeting for a presentation on the “Micro Loans Program” for the disadvantaged by our frequent visitors Roger and Carol Ward of the Rotary Club of Aireborough in the United Kingdom.

The Rotary Club of Aireborough is using micro loans to support individuals and small businesses in Southeast Asia who would not normally qualify for bank loans. Recent borrowers have included a seamstress, shrimp and fish farmers and a tree nursery.
