Please join us for our monthly Fellowship Night on 2 July at the excellent Chon Thai Cuisine, the new Rooftop Restaurant at the new Sunshine International Hotel, 7th Floor, Hin Lek Fai. Please note this is next to Sunshine International Residence with a different access Soi, please look ar Chon Thai Cuisine on Google Maps. It is not Foxes Restaurant!

The extensive buffet menu will incude: Appertizers of Crispy Fried Chicken marinaded with Fish Sauce, Vegetarian Samosas, Deep Fried Fish Cakes and New England Clam Chouder.  There will also be a salad bar with Italian and French dressings, Penne with Pesto Sauce Salad and Potato, Pumpkin and Sausage Salad.

Please be invited to a special recognition ceremony for the Rotarian donors who helped us make the new ambulance project for Hua Hin Hospital come to fruition. Many Rotarians and District Governors from the Rotary clubs who donated funding for the purchase of the ambulance are coming for an inspection and photoshoot with the local media at 4:00 pm on 3 September. Members, families and friends are welcome to attend and please register your attendance on our Club Runner website as usual. Car parking is going to be tight so you might want to park on Petchkasem Road.

Following the recognition ceremony, the visiting Rotarians are going to join us for our Multi-Club Fellowship Night at Monsoon Wine Bar from 6:00 - 8:30 pm. We are going to be fully-booked as the Monsoon Wine Bar has limited the event to 55 people. Please understand that you need to register for both of these events separately so we can be aware of the headcount for each event beforehand.

Please register only Rotarians first and early for the Multi-Club Fellowship Night, and if there are any vacant seats left on 1 September, then friends and partners will be able to attend and you can register them. Please join us for our Multi-Club Fellowship Night at Monsoon Valley Wine Bar from 6:00 - 8:30 pm. Please be invited to the joint project dedication ceremony with our newest sister club, the Rotary Club of Bangkok Harmony of RI District 3350 and our club, with support from the King Prajadhipok’s Institute on Good Governance on 7 September at the Ban Khlong Noi Border Patrol Police School in Pala-U, Hua Hin. There are 130 students in the school, grades 1 to 6, and the remote village is located about a 75-minute drive from the Hua Hin city center.

Our clubs will visit the school to handover scholarships, sports equipment and personal hygiene survival kits, which are intended to reduce the financial burden on the underprivileged families. The scholarship package costs THB 500 per student and covers the cost of uniforms, stationery, books, etc., for students with outstanding academic achievement.

Apologies for the short notice, our Board of Directors have just decided to participate in this joint project for education scholarships at a total cost of THB 10,000 for 20 students. Also, our Rotaract Club of Stamford International University conducted a service project for the school three years ago.

The Rotary International theme for September is Basic Education & Literacy and we aim to help improve the lives of the underprivileged and disadvantaged in our communities.

Please be invited to our club lunch meeting where Justin Leonhard, PhD is going to present an insightful introduction on his research into Swarm Intelligence (S.I.), covering the historical limitations of computers, the inherent risks and costs of training and integrating large language model A.I. as expert systems into society. He will also present demonstrable proof on the first non-theoretical Autonomous Heterogeneous S.I., and examples of its application in publishing, education, entertainment, manufacturing, and logistics.

Justin is a long-term resident of Hua Hin and his father Woody Leonhard is a past president of the Rotary Club of Patong Beach, our sister club.

Please join us for the handover of our club’s donation for prescription eyeglasses to underprivileged children at Ban Hua Hin Municipal Demonstration School at 9:00 am on Friday, 20 September. This is our joint-project with the Hua Hin Lions Club’s “First Sight” initiative that provides free eyeglasses with vision tests and eye exams at Time Optic Hua Hin. The eyeglasses cost THB 250 each and we donated THB 10,000 for 40 of the 63 pairs of eyeglasses that were donated to the school. We hope to see you there!

The Rotary International theme for September is “Basic Education & Literacy”

Please join us for our next community service project that is going to take place at Ban Nern Payom School on 25 September. The school teaches 50 students ages 6 to 12 with one full-time teacher and one volunteer teacher. We are going to deliver personal education supplies for each student including black and colored pencils, erasers, rulers, scissors, crayons, water colors, paper notebooks, and extra supplies for the teacher, as well as footballs, badminton equipment and dakraw kick balls with the total cost of THB 15,000. Also, 100 kg of rice for a month’s consumption is being donated by local friends of Rotary, and the elder students cook the daily meals for entire school.

The school is located in a rural area that is mostly dense jungle and undeveloped, in the mountainous region of Bueng Nakhon sub-district of Hua Hin, nearly a 90-minute drive from the Hua Hin city center on paved roads. The school and the local villagers are not connected to the electricity grid but a limited amount of solar power is in use.

Please see the map provided and we are going to meet and depart from the Bluport Shopping Mall at 9:30 am. The total time including round-trip travelling could be four hours or more.

To recognize World Polio Day on 24 October, please be invited to our club’s community service activity at Ban Khlong Noi Border Patrol Police School in the mountainous region of Pala-U in Hua Hin. There are 130 students in the school, grades 1 to 6, and the remote village is located about a 75-minute drive from the Hua Hin city center. This is the same school that we participated in a joint project with the Rotary Club of Bangkok Harmony on 7 September.

We are going to start the day by educating the local villagers on the poliovirus, then help them clean the school’s vegetable garden and repair the fence, and serve lunch and ice cream for the 100+ students and families.

Our November event will be at the beatifully refurbished and newly opened Carapace Beach Club, located on the beach behind the Best Western Hotel, Khao Tao.

With the choice of aircon or alfresco beach front dinning, it promises to be a memorable event. The Club is providing a very generous menu including:

Please be invited to our club lunch meeting with guest speaker Rotarian Mike Doyle who is going to present the informative topic, “Avoiding Legal Disasters Associated with Estate Planning”. Mike is a U.S. attorney and a Senior Partner of Seri Manop & Doyle in Bangkok, and has been practicing law in Thailand since 1996. Mike is also a past president of the Rotary Club of Bangkok South and he presented some interesting expat legal issues to our club in 2010. We look forward to welcoming Mike back again and we hope to see you there!

Following our club lunch meeting on 12 November, we are going to visit Mercy House Children’s Home in Pran Buri to donate gifts for the 45 children who live there. This project is similar to what we did for the children last year at Mercy House in collaboration with Cyclists With Compassion charity bike rides. We also organized meals for 45 children and 51 cyclists through the Scholars of Sustenance Foundation in Hua Hin, and the children are going to participate in some activities in the afternoon.

We will depart Amari Hua Hin Resort by 2:00 pm and arrive at Mercy House about 2:30 pm. We hope to see you there!

The Mayor of Hua Hin, Mr. Nopporn Wuttikul presides over the ceremony with Mr. Somkid Chanthamalik, the Governor of Prachuap Khirikhan province. Incense and candles are dedicated to the Great Kings of Thailand with floral garlands for the altar of King Rama IX.

- Phatthavisai dance performance by the Yan Nawa Senior School in Bangkok

- Thai boxing tribute performance by cadets from the Army Cadet School

19:30  Remembrance Ceremony for King Rama IX

Mr. Somkid Chanthamalik lights a candle at King Rama IX’s portrait with a remembrance speech honoring King Rama IX’s contributions to society, followed by the songs "Father’s Tree" and "Love for Father Never Ends".

This annual festival is organized by the Learning Center of Local Music and Performing Arts in Hua Hin for cultural preservation and community engagement, with the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin as the sponsor of two nights’ accommodation and meals for the 100 youth musicians.

Dear Rotarians

Our Christmas Party will be on the beautiful terrace at the Carapace Beach Club, with a special two and a half hour Christmas buffet.

Appetizer options will be fish goujons, vegetable spring rolls with plum sauce and pork satay with peanut sauce. Also, an assorted salad bar of cucumber, tomato, onion, capsicum, sweet corn, carrot, red bean, cabbage, broccoli and cauliflower with thousand island, honey mayonnaise and Italian dressing. Finally pumpkin soup with freshly baked bread and spicy pork rib soup with lemongrass.

The carving station will have roast turkey and BBQ grilled pork loin, with cranberry sauce, peppercorn sauce, mustard or brown gravy. To complement the carving station there will be a choice of mashed potatoes, roast potatoes, peas and carrots. There will also be the option of panang chicken curry or deep fried fish with fish sauce with steamed rice.

The live cooking station will have Ceasar salad with a Parmesan cheese wheel, plus pastas with a choice of Bolognese, arrabbiata and carbonara sauces.

Christmas pudding with brandy sauce leads the desserts, also Christmas log, Christmas stollen, chocolate fudge cake, blueberry cheesecake, assorted Christmas cookies, strawberry panna cotta, brownies, mango with sticky rice and fresh fruit.  

There will be two and a half hours free flow to go with the buffet, 1,500 THB for free flow red, white and sparking wine and Chang beer, or 1,000 THB for the buffet and soft drinks. Please try and bring the exact money.

The party will be rocking with music from Nongdear Music, who will keep playing until late, and there will be special prices on bottles of wine once the free flow ends.
