Dear Rotarians Please join us for our monthly Fellowship Night at the Pizza Garden Restaurant for a wonderful selection of authentic pizzas and pastas on 4th June. Please arrive around 6pm as the first course will be served promptly. Owner, Mario, has put together a delicious 7 course tasting menu, starting with Pizza Margarita, followed by Spaghetti Bolognase. (the seating arrangements will be tables of 8 people). These will be followed by Pizza Petra (Gorgonzola, Spicy Salami, Salami Milano, Tomato Sauce and Mozzorella) and Pizza Classica (Ham, Mushrooms, Tomato Sauce and Mozzorella). Dear All Please join us for our monthly Fellowship Night on 2 July at the excellent Chon Thai Cuisine, the new Rooftop Restaurant at the new Sunshine International Hotel, 7th Floor, Hin Lek Fai. Please be invited to a special recognition ceremony for the Rotarian donors who helped us make the new ambulance project for Hua Hin Hospital come to fruition. Many Rotarians and District Governors from the Rotary clubs who donated funding for the purchase of the ambulance are coming for an inspection and photoshoot with the local media at 4:00 pm on 3 September. Members, families and friends are welcome to attend and please register your attendance on our Club Runner website as usual. Car parking is going to be tight so you might want to park on Petchkasem Road. Following the recognition ceremony, the visiting Rotarians are going to join us for our Multi-Club Fellowship Night at Monsoon Wine Bar from 6:00 - 8:30 pm. We are going to be fully-booked as the Monsoon Wine Bar has limited the event to 55 people. Please understand that you need to register for both of these events separately so we can be aware of the headcount for each event beforehand. Please register only Rotarians first and early for the Multi-Club Fellowship Night, and if there are any vacant seats left on 1 September, then friends and partners will be able to attend and you can register them. Please be invited to the joint project dedication ceremony with our newest sister club, the Rotary Club of Bangkok Harmony of RI District 3350 and our club, with support from the King Prajadhipok’s Institute on Good Governance on 7 September at the Ban Khlong Noi Border Patrol Police School in Pala-U, Hua Hin. There are 130 students in the school, grades 1 to 6, and the remote village is located about a 75-minute drive from the Hua Hin city center. Our clubs will visit the school to handover scholarships, sports equipment and personal hygiene survival kits, which are intended to reduce the financial burden on the underprivileged families. The scholarship package costs THB 500 per student and covers the cost of uniforms, stationery, books, etc., for students with outstanding academic achievement. Apologies for the short notice, our Board of Directors have just decided to participate in this joint project for education scholarships at a total cost of THB 10,000 for 20 students. He will also present demonstrable proof on the first non-theoretical Autonomous Heterogeneous S.I., and examples of its application in publishing, education, entertainment, manufacturing, and logistics. Justin is a long-term resident of Hua Hin and his father Woody Leonhard is a past president of the Rotary Club of Patong Beach, our sister club. Please join us for the handover of our club’s donation for prescription eyeglasses to underprivileged children at Ban Hua Hin Municipal Demonstration School at 9:00 am on Friday, 20 September. This is our joint-project with the Hua Hin Lions Club’s “First Sight” initiative that provides free eyeglasses with vision tests and eye exams at Time Optic Hua Hin. The eyeglasses cost THB 250 each and we donated THB 10,000 for 40 of the 63 pairs of eyeglasses that were donated to the school. We hope to see you there! The Rotary International theme for September is “Basic Education & Literacy” Please join us for our next community service project that is going to take place at Ban Nern Payom School on 25 September. The school teaches 50 students ages 6 to 12 with one full-time teacher and one volunteer teacher. We are going to deliver personal education supplies for each student including black and colored pencils, erasers, rulers, scissors, crayons, water colors, paper notebooks, and extra supplies for the teacher, as well as footballs, badminton equipment and dakraw kick balls with the total cost of THB 15,000. Also, 100 kg of rice for a month’s consumption is being donated by local friends of Rotary, and the elder students cook the daily meals for entire school. The school is located in a rural area that is mostly dense jungle and undeveloped, in the mountainous region of Bueng Nakhon sub-district of Hua Hin, nearly a 90-minute drive from the Hua Hin city center on paved roads. The school and the local villagers are not connected to the electricity grid but a limited amount of solar power is in use. Please see the map provided and we are going to meet and depart from the Bluport Shopping Mall at 9:30 am. The total time including round-trip travelling could be four hours or more. 9:30 am. Dear Rotarians we are returning to the excellent Chon Thai rooftop restaurant for our October event. The extensive menu comprises: Starters; crispy fried chicken, vegetarian samosa, deep fried fish cake, New England clam chowder soup, penne with pesto salad, potato, pumkin and sausage salad, plus an extensive salad bar with a choice of dressings. To recognize World Polio Day on 24 October, please be invited to our club’s community service activity at Ban Khlong Noi Border Patrol Police School in the mountainous region of Pala-U in Hua Hin. There are 130 students in the school, grades 1 to 6, and the remote village is located about a 75-minute drive from the Hua Hin city center. This is the same school that we participated in a joint project with the Rotary Club of Bangkok Harmony on 7 September. Mike is a U.S. attorney and a Senior Partner of Seri Manop & Doyle in Bangkok, and has been practicing law in Thailand since 1996. Mike is also a past president of the Rotary Club of Bangkok South and he presented some interesting expat legal issues to our club in 2010. Following our club lunch meeting on 12 November, we are going to visit Mercy House Children’s Home in Pran Buri to donate gifts for the 45 children who live there. This project is similar to what we did for the children last year at Mercy House in collaboration with Cyclists With Compassion charity bike rides. We also organized meals for 45 children and 51 cyclists through the Scholars of Sustenance Foundation in Hua Hin, and the children are going to participate in some activities in the afternoon. We will depart Amari Hua Hin Resort by 2:00 pm and arrive at Mercy House about 2:30 pm. We hope to see you there! |
