Our club lunch meeting had the pleasure of welcoming guest speaker Mr. Boom who gave an interesting and insightful presentation on the Scholars of Sustenance (SOS). Established in 2012 in the United States, SOS is a registered non-profit environmental organization operating to tackle food waste and food insecurity in Thailand, Indonesia and the Philippines.
They rescue quality surplus food from the hospitality and food manufacturing industries and distribute it to disadvantaged communities seven days a week. From the Hua Hin branch alone, SOS supports 80 communities and provide meals for over 10,000 people a month in our region. Rotarian Peter presented Rotarian Dieter with the bottle of wine for the day.
