Dear Rotarians & Friends,
It seems that we say this often but May was another great month for the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin. Firstly, we enjoyed the Rotary District Training Assembly in Trang, Thailand with nearly 20% of our club members in attendance. It was a colorful weekend of camaraderie between Rotarians and the evening’s festivities included a lot of fun among the 102 clubs participating.
Our Rotaractors of Stamford International University were instrumental in organizing the community service projects for young students at 11 Border Police Patrol Schools at the Thailand-Myanmar border on 11-12 May. It is an ongoing co-project between Rotaract and RCRHH providing school backpacks for the 300+ kids, donations of necessary staple items and facility improvements on the school buildings.
The RI theme for June is ‘Rotary Fellowships Month’, recognizing the importance of international fellowship and goodwill among Rotarians. Rotary Fellowships are international groups of Rotarians sharing a common interest or vocation, and provide the opportunity to have fun, make new friends around the world, and enhance their experience in Rotary. Rotary Fellowships actually began in 1928 when Rotarians with a shared interest in the international language Esperanto joined together.
“Fellowship is wonderful; it illuminates life’s pathway, spreads good cheer, and is worth a high price.” Rotary’s Founder, Paul Harris
Saturday 1st June 2019 marked the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin’s (RCRHH) 10th Annual Club Officer Installation Dinner held in the Ballroom of the Amari Hua Hin Resort & Spa. The occasion saw the new President for the year 2019-20 Napa Keawtem, presented with the President’s Jewel.
P Napa breaks two records in becoming President, the first Thai to hold the office in the English speaking club and the first female to do so in RCRHH.
On Thursday 23rd May 2019, several members of the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin attended the Stamford International University Rotaractor's annual International Charity Night 2019, an event co-organised by the Rotaractors, RCRHH, Hua Hin Market Village and Stamford International University.
The party was held at Hua Hin Market Village forecourt with the purpose of raising funds for the Rotaract Club of SIU, enabling them to complete their University Social responsibility activities, a charity project to help support 11 Patrol Police Schools in Prachuabkirikhan, at the border of Thailand. The first part of the project has been completed already over the weekend of 11th - 12th May 2019. CLICK HERE FOR THAT STORY.
Rotarian Alan Brown of the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin, who is on a trip to Scotland for the Home of Golf 2019 Competition, organised by Banyan Golf Club Hua Hin, made a stop on route in Germany last week. Whist there he visited the Rotary Club of Ingolstadt, just north of Munich in Bavaria. The club was chartered in 1959 and has 60 members as well as a partner relationship with the RC of Kirkcaldy in the Kingdom of Fife, Scotland.
The Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin are pleased to announce their 10th Annual Amateur Charity Golf Tournament, to be held on Friday 29th November 2019 at the Banyan Golf Club. Ten members of the Rotary Club of Royal Hua, PE Napa Keawtem, PN Peter & Rtn Gitte Iversen, Exec Sec Martin Harrison, Sec Phil Lawrence, Rtn Udai Rai, Rtn Rick & Rtn June Rees, AG Alan Cooper and headed by President Brian Anderson attended the 3330 District Training Assembly at the Thumrin Thana Hotel in Trang over the weekend of 10th-12th May 2019.
As part of a busy weekend for the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin, those members who were not at the District Training Assembly, and ably headed by Rotarian Benjamas Uamsa-Ard helped with the The Patrol Police Schools Project. This charity event is co-organised by Rotaract Club of Stamford International University, Hua Hin Market Village, Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin, and Stamford International University.
26 members and guests of the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin enjoyed their May Fellowship evening on the roof terrace of Take 5 Music Bar opposite the Amari Hotel last Tuesday evening.
As well as the usual freeflow wine and beer, there was a superb Indian buffet which seemed to be in endless supply and a DJ on hand to provide light background music.
Another enjoyable event in which Rotarians and their guests could mingle and chat, and also happened to be one of the guests, Tip's, Birthday for which cake and rendition of Happy Birthday was sung. CLICK HERE FOR PICTURES.
