President's Message - August 2022
August 2022

Dear Members of Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin.

As we move into the 2nd month of Rotary Year 118 2022 and 2023, we are starting to see a difference from my message posted in August 2021. Finally, Thailand is starting to open up again and starting to live with Covid-19. Through Rotary I recently visited Phuket and Pattaya and it was pleasing to see tourism slowly bouncing back, let us hope for our friends and businesses here in Hua Hin that more tourism will return to our Province.

As I enter my second term as President of our club, I feel I will face a new set of challenges different to my first term, however my goals stay the same. I want to see our club grow in Rotary year 118, not only with new members, but with more new member participation in our club. I want to see our new members join our committees, I want our new members to help take ownership of our club, to generate new ideas, new ways of doing things and more importantly to want to be part of our club’s future by serving on our Board of Directors.

Our members need to become part of our club sustainability for years to come.

As August is membership month I want you to remind you that you are helping build a team that can strengthen your local community and make the world a better place to live.

I appreciate that many of our members still only reside here in Hua Hin part of the year, however, they can still support us in many ways whilst living in their own country.

I was proud to be part of the celebration of our first Installation dinner on the 23rd July. Not only was I installed as President, we also installed Rotaract Presidents Nitcha Pungpan (Asia) from Stamford International University and Sirima Thabsi from our new Rotaract club Rajamangala University Wangklaikangwon Campus.

We also celebrated past Presidents Napa Keawtem Rotary year 115 and Brian Anderson Rotary year 116 who I was proud to serve under as club secretary, and gained the knowledge to help me to become President.

The event was attended by 150 people, and it was pleasing to see our club supported by 19 other Rotary Clubs, including our old friends RC Bangkok South and RC Bangkapi. It was a privilege to have District Governor La-Or Chinda and her Husband Khun Chulanan, Immediate past District Governor Paikit Hoonpongsimanont, District Governor elect Chatchawal Telavanich and his wife Phanita and last but not least Past District Governor Kanit Jamjuntra and his wife Chadarat attend our event.

In addition, the Mayor of Hua Hin Nopporn Wutthikul, Khun Wassana Srikanchana President of Hua Hin and Cha Am tourism and her deputy Khun Putthiya Pansang. The President of Hua Hin women’s club Khun Pranom Chipoo attended and last but not least our very own Lizzy Ginsel brought 19 guests.

Our golf committee is starting to plan for our twelfth Annual Amateur Golf Classic to be held at Banyan after the cancellation last year, and it will be held on Friday 25th November 2022. As members this is another way to support our club by helping us to find sponsors, sponsoring specific part of the tournament such as trophies, music, breakfast. By taking part in the tournament as golfers or supporting the event on the day by helping out in during the day at registration, the 9th hole or in the evening.

Lastly I am looking forward to working with Dr Helmut Schepers our President Elect, and providing the support to help him lead our club in Rotary year 119, also the Board of Directors and our members. Let us hope our club has a happy and successful year.

YIR
