President's Message March 2019
March 2019

Dear Rotarians & Friends,

As every month, February provided us with many opportunities to participate in memorable community service projects and fellowship activities. Our 8th annual Multi Rotary Club Family & Friends Night on 8 February was another great success with over 130 attendees of 10 Rotary Clubs from both Thailand and abroad, as well as our two Rotaract Club Officer Installations from Stamford International University and Webster University. The weekend also included fun and games at the Rotary Club of Bangkapi’s 49th annual Children’s Day at the Beach in nearby Cha-am.
On 12 February we welcomed a combined delegation from ‘Down Under’, with nine Rotarians visiting from the Rotary Club of Joondalup, the Rotary Club of Nedlands and the Rotary Club of Wanneroo, all based in Perth, West Australia to our regular club lunch meeting. Inter Club friendship blossomed once more and thanks to Rotarian Alan Brown our Inter Club Relationships Chair and also the Chairman of the District 3330 ‘Inter Country Committee for Thailand-Australia’, for coordinating the Aussie fellowship activities and school visit.
Our Club celebrated the 114th Birthday Anniversary of Rotary International on 23 February, with an excellent turnout from over 40 Rotarians and guests including President Steve Wiltshire and Past President Charlie Bro of the Rotary Club of Nedlands. It was an unforgettable afternoon-evening of fun and relaxation without shoes at the quiet beach, and we look forward to a repeat event next year to bring in RI Year 115.
Last but certainly not least, everyone enjoyed our 9th annual Children’s Day at Panyanakul School on 26 February, which provided a great day of fun, games, food and music for the 300+ children with disabilities, and co-hosted by the Rotaract Clubs. Special thanks to our President-Elect Napa for spearheading the event as well as the large group of Rotarians and Rotaractors who helped to make this special day for the children.
In addition to our upcoming Fellowship Night and weekly club meetings, the annual District Conference is going to be held on 29-31 March in Nakon Pathom. We are delighted that we have a fairly large delegation from our club confirmed to attend the Conference, with all members encouraged to attend, and the more the merrier.
Rotary International’s monthly theme for March is focused on Water and Sanitation. With more than two-thirds of the Earth’s surface covered by water, less than three percent of the total is considered fresh water. Unfortunately in today’s rapidly growing world population, equitable access to clean, fresh water is a challenge that Rotary International has been addressing for many decades. Proper sanitation is a connected issue, and vital to prevent the spread of disease and ensure good health for humanity.
Please take the time to peruse our monthly Club Bulletin and website for updates and you are always welcome to join us in our fellowship meetings and service activities. I look forward to seeing you there to Be the Inspiration.

Yours in Rotary,

Brian Anderson
