President's Message December 2022
December 2022

Fellow Rotarians,

December is Disease Prevention and Treatment month.

Over the years our club has an excellent record of supporting our local community
hospitals, both Hua Hin Hospital and the Red Cross Clinic.

Recently we undertook a project to support a new neurological unit at Hua Hin Hospital
using 5,000 USD from our District Designated Fund (DDF) to purchase essential items
of equipment to support the day-to-day operations of the unit. Since it’s soft opening in
August patients have been treated not only from Prachuap Khiri Khan, but our
neighbouring provinces of Phetchaburi and Chumphon.

Our Project chair PP Napa is also keen to undertake further support for Dr Peace and
his dedicated team at the neurological unit in the future.

In addition, we have also supported other Rotary Clubs in our District in medical
projects using our DDF. The Rotary club of Pra Pathom Chedi using a Global Grant are
building a new Intensive Care Unit (ICU)at a hospital near them. The Rotary Club of
Thavaravadi are again using a Global Grant to purchase resuscitation and defibrillators
for the same project. Lastly we are supporting the Rotary Club of Phang Nga in
renovating a dental clinic at a local hospital. All of these projects we donated 1,000
USD.

Let us not forget our own members who have suffered ill health in the last 12 months,
as a club we are a family and should offer continued support to our members during
these times.

The fight against Polio is still Rotary Internationals main goal to eradicate this disease,
and world Polio Day this year our club joined the other three clubs in our area 16, in an
environmental project, and the sale of the world polio day T shirts contributed 60 Baht
for each shirt sold into our club’s polio plus fund.

On the 25th November we held our 12th Annual Charity Golf Classic, I would like to
thank the golf committee and the volunteers who made the day a success, our sponsors
and golfers. Early indications are that we have made over 1 million Baht which will go
towards our continued support for our local communities.

We are nearing the end of another year, and entering the festive season so as
President of this club firstly I am looking forward to handing over to PE Helmet at the
end of June 2023, and let me be the first to wish you a very happy Christmas wherever
you are in the world, whatever you are doing, and remember stay safe.

Let us hope that 2023 will bring our members together again in harmony and continue
to support out local communities.

Yours in Rotary.
Phil Lawrence.
