The 11th Anniversary of the Annual Amateur Charity Golf Tournament organised by the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin was held on the 11th December 2020 at the Banyan Golf Club.

When the first tournament was held in October 2010 459,000Thai Baht was raised for local charities which at the time was nearly double what the committee predicted to be raised.

This year the golf committee had a difficult decision to make as Covid-19 virus gripped the globe and the impact it was having on tourism and businesses here in Thailand. However, it was decided to continue to hold the event even if the funds raised did not match previous years, but also maintain the same quality as in previous years. Our faith in previous support and the welcome of new sponsors and golfers rewarded that decision as the event has raised in excess of 980,000 Thai Baht on the day which far exceeded our expectations.

The event was supported by 26 teams and 104 players representing countries around the globe and included 6 teams from Bangkok two from NT Asset, two from Dunlop Adhesives and the Wise Old Men and The Sultans of Swing from Rotary Club of Bangkok South. Also welcomed for the first time was Bang Saray’s finest from near Sattahip. The pleasant weather conditions and the excellent condition of the course made it a perfect day for playing golf.

All the players enjoyed refreshments provided by Take 5 at the 9th hole including prosecco and Singha beer sponsored by Arnold Properties whilst listening to entertainment from Surf 102.5 who were broadcasting live and conducted a number of interviews with sponsors and players alike.

It is important to note that the Rotary Club Royal Hua Hin cannot thank the Support provided by Banyan golf Club and our sponsors especially the main sponsors who included NT Asset, Dunlop Adhesives, Dansea our own Rotarian Lizzy Ginsel who made a generous donation. Without these there would be no tournament and therefore no money raised to help us support the local communities.  The Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin sponsored the Sangria and Prosecco on the day.

Following on from the golf the highlight of the yearly tournament is the evening Awards Dinner.

This Year NT Asset 1 came in with the best gross score of 56.1, “The Wise Old Men” from Rotary Club Bangkok South were the winners with 53.7 net, 2nd was Dansea with 55.2 net and 3rd place the Ryders with RCRHH Phil Lawrence and Daniel Burn with 58.3 net.

This year the dinner was attended by 136 sponsors, golfers and guests enjoying an international buffet whilst the main auction, silent auction and raffle raised over 230,000 Thai Baht highlighting the generosity of those that attended.

We look forward to welcome back our sponsors, and golfers in 2021 when we hold the 12th Annual Charity Golf Classic.
