Our Rotarians attended the handover ceremony for our club’s donation of playground equipment at Navy Phirom Hotel on 16 July, the same day as the hotel’s 26th anniversary. Nine monks were invited to extend their blessings in a traditional Buddhist ceremony followed by a luncheon at the hotel’s restaurant.
Special thanks to the hotel’s director Rear Admiral Tanin and his staff for providing their swimming pool for our Children’s Water Safety & Drowning Prevention program as well as further training sessions in the future. The children will enjoy playing on the new equipment during their breaks between the water safety topics.
The 3-day training program includes swimming, floating, rescue skills and CPR for groups of about 60 students aged nine to 12 years old led by certified instructors. Many of the children have reported that they weren’t able to swim before entering the program and afterward they felt more comfortable and confident in water.
