Our Rotarians carried out another community service project at the Bueng Nakhon branch of Ban Nern Phayom School with the donation of essential classroom supplies on 8 September. The young students aways give a very warm welcome to our group, and it’s inspiring to see how they help each other learn in the classrooms and share the responsibility of cleaning up after themselves.
Special thanks to Rotarian Andrew’s family for sponsoring the ice cream and collecting clothing and toys for the children.
Located in the mountainous region of Bueng Nakhon subdistrict, the school is about a 75-minute drive from the Hua Hin city center and the school and local villagers do not have access to the national electricity grid. Last June we installed a new dual-lithium battery and DC/AC inverter that provides sustainable and uninterrupted electricity generated by the solar photo-voltaic array, as a joint project with our friends of the Rotary Club of Zürich-West in Switzerland.
Rotary International’s theme for September is Basic Education and Literacy, emphasizing the importance of education and literacy in transforming lives and communities.
