Our Sergeant-At-Arms Past President Paul opened the meeting and welcomed visiting Rotarian Jane from the Rotary Club of Beaumaris in Melbourne, Past President Dougie from the Rotary Club of Bangkok South, and our guests in a humorous way as usual on 28 October. President Brian presented our recent club activities and community service projects completed in October as well as the upcoming projects and events in the pipeline. He also spoke about our humanitarian service project to purchase new anesthesia equipment for Hua Hin Hospital. This much-needed equipment will be dedicated to meet the growing demand of emergency medical treatment for the Intervention Neuroradiology, Cardiac Catheterization and Thrombectomy Unit.
Vice-President Michel and Rotarian Peter leading the Golf Tournament Organizing Committee presented the details of our 15th Annual Charity Golf Classic, our major fundraising event of the year scheduled for 28 November at Pineapple Valley Golf Club. They shared in-depth information about the amateur tournament from the early planning stages and attracting sponsors and golfers, to the day of the tournament and gala dinner with prizes to help raise funds for our projects. Every year the committee does a fantastic job organizing this fun-filled day of camaraderie and sport, followed by a memorable evening of celebration and entertainment.
Special thanks to our club members for attracting sponsors from businesses and philanthropic organizations by acquiring vouchers for goods and services for the fundraising efforts during the evening’s gala dinner, and inviting golfers to participate every year.
President Brian exchanged club banners with visiting Rotarian Jane, and she spoke about her club’s activities while interestingly stating that our late member Rotarian Alan had introduced her to Rotary in Australia and had encouraged her to become a member there. Rotarian Franjo was the lucky winner of the bottle of wine for the day.
