Our Rotarians and friends recognized the annual World Polio Day at Hin Lek Fai Community Hospital in Hua Hin on 14 October. The medical professionals vaccinated 29 infants from ages one to two months and children up to two years against the polio virus as well as other required vaccinations.
We provided the families with sets of items including toys, blankets, baby soap, baby bottles, drinking water, and brochures emphasizing the importance of the polio vaccination. Special thanks to Past President Napa and Past President Dr. Danai for organizing the event with the hospital, and all the Rotarians and friends who attended.

About World Polio Day and Rotary International
The eradication of polio is one of Rotary International’s longest-standing and most significant efforts. Along with our partners, we have helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries, and have reduced polio cases by 99.9 percent worldwide.
In 1985, Rotary launched PolioPlus, the first and largest internationally coordinated private-sector support of a public health initiative, with an initial fundraising target of USD 120 million. Next, Rotary and the World Health Organization launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in 1988 when there were an estimated 350,000 cases of polio in 125 countries.
World Polio Day is on 24 October every year and Rotary activities are conducted in October to raise awareness of the importance of polio vaccinations to protect every child from this devastating disease, and to celebrate the many parents, professionals and volunteers whose contributions have made polio eradication achievable.
