In association with the Hua Hin City Municipality, the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin held our 1st Annual Hua Hin Youth Football Championship for Literacy 2026 on 3 May at the Hua Hin City Municipal Stadium in Khao Takiab. It was a long day of strategy, stamina and strength as the footballers aged 10 to 12 years old from 12 teams in government schools in Hua Hin and Pranburi competed tirelessly for the championship title. The players consistently exhibited a high degree of skill and sportsmanship, and it was very impressive to watch them work together and really “go for it.”
Hua Hin City Mayor Nopporn Wuttikhul opened the tournament with his kind words of inspiration and support, and our Club President Brian introduced the participating teams, sponsors and supporters. The objectives of the tournament were as follows:
- To provide the opportunity for 180 young students from local schools to participate in a football tournament.
- To promote camaraderie in sport and literacy for children.
- To bring families together for a fun community event and UNITE FOR GOOD in the spirit of Rotary.
- Every school received 100 Thai-language storybooks for their library and five footballs.

“Children’s books are a powerful tool to enhance the brain development of a young child, especially their all-important language skills. Stories not only bring happiness and enjoyment, but also add new words to a child’s vocabulary, help them develop and practice their comprehension, and lay the foundation for them to understand the concept of reading.” (UNICEF Thailand, 2024)
