The Rotaractors of Stamford International University and members of the Student Council organized another one of their International Charity Nights for community engagement and inclusion at Market Village Shopping Mall on 21 January. With sponsorship support from the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin, the evening was fully booked and the guests were entertained by exciting performances of song and dance as well as a spectacular fashion runway by Miss Thailand International finalists and the Miss Prachuap Khirikhan beauty queens.
The Governor of Prachuap Khirikhan province, Dr. Sittichai Sawatsan presided over the opening ceremony with Stamford’s President Dr. Apithep Saekow and Executive Director Dr. Yunlin Yang. In line with Stamford’s longstanding commitment to University Social Responsibility (USR), the proceeds from this charity event are earmarked for the Rotaract Club of Stamford International University with the Student Council to carry out their volunteer community service activities at Ban Nong Krathing School in Kui Buri district on 6 February. The day includes several English-learning activities and sporting events with snacks and a group lunch, as well as maintenance on the school facilities. Playground and sports equipment, CCTV cameras, vegetable seeds and sport shirts for all 59 children will be provided as well.
Organizing the Charity Nights and community service projects provides the university students with practical, hands-on experience that they might not necessarily learn in the classroom, and it’s always inspiring to see them collaborate with the altruistic approach of “Service Above Self” to help out the underprivileged and disadvantaged in our world.
The Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin is the charter sponsor of this Rotaract club and we have been working together on joint service projects since their inception in 2016. Special thanks to everyone at Stamford International University for their ongoing support and especially our club’s charter member Rotarian Benjamas for always guiding the students to help them be the best they can be and UNITE FOR GOOD!
