A delegation of our club attended the joint project handover ceremony with our newest sister club, the Rotary Club of Bangkok Harmony, with support from the King Prajadhipok’s Institute on Good Governance on 7 September at the Ban Khlong Noi Border Patrol Police School in Pala-U, Hua Hin. There are about 150 students in the school, grades 1 to 6, and the remote village is located about a 75-minute drive from the Hua Hin city center in a mountainous region very close to the border with Myanmar.
The project included the handover of sports equipment, staple food products and personal hygiene survival kits, which are intended to reduce the financial burden on the underprivileged families. Also, every child was given an envelope with THB 100. The children performed a traditional Thai dance show for the audience and it was a special day of joy for everyone present. The day continued with an inspection of the school with the director to identify additional needs for building renovations that we can support through joint projects.
The Rotary International theme for September is Basic Education & Literacy and we continue to help support the development of the underprivileged and disadvantaged in our communities.
