The Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin's new President, Napa Keawtem has today, at the start of Rotary Year 115 sent her first message, which is reproduced below.

Napa will send out a new message each month, and these can be accessed in the column to the right of this story.  So check in regularly to keep abreast of what is happening in the world of Rotary in Hua Hin.
Dear Fellow Rotarians,

I would like to thank you for electing me as your Club President as well as the elected members of the Board. I am very excited about the upcoming year, it’s a particularly exciting year because it’s the 10th Year Anniversary of the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin.

Thirty-nine years ago I was very fortunate to receive an education scholarship from a Rotary Club of Fredrikstad in Norway as an exchange student. I spent one year in Norway and went to summer school at the University of Oslo at the Blindern campus. While there I had many opportunities to visit many Rotary Clubs and met many wonderful Rotarians. My first impression about Rotary was all great!

After I joined the RCRHH, it didn't take long to learn about the many wonderful things Rotary International has accomplished. From polio vaccinations to student exchange programs to community service projects all over the world designed to improve the quality of life for others, Rotary has an incredible history of taking on countless, amazing projects.

Locally, our club has been doing a lot for Hua Hin and nearby areas, helping local organizations in need such as hospitals, schools, an animal shelter or working with the schools and students. Our two Rotaract clubs play very important roles as well. I am very proud to be part of a group that is so willing to help the community and very supportive of projects.

The Rotary International Year 115 theme is Rotary Connects the World. I absolutely love that theme because Rotary truly is connecting us with underprivileged people who need our help.

I want to share a few of club leadership goals for the coming year;
  • To continue to do work that helps local children,
  • To continue our efforts to support sustainable education projects,
  • To continue to advocate for environment preservation,
  • And most of all, I want our members to continue having fun with everything we do.
Yours in Rotary,

Napa Keawtem
President 2019-2020
