Our Rotarians made another excursion to the Bueng Nakhon branch of Ban Nern Phayom School on 9 January to support their National Children’s Day activities co-hosted by officials from the Royal Rainmaking Project. The school’s director Khun Anun and the teachers were dressed in student uniforms and the children had a lot of fun playing games and dancing around the area.
We handed over our donation of warm blankets for every child as this time of year the temperatures get colder up in the mountains compared to the coastline of Hua Hin. The school educates 38 students with four teachers from kindergarten to grade 6 and we have conducted many service projects there for the third year now.
It is the same school where we partnered with the Rotary Club of Zürich-West last July and installed the dual-lithium battery and DC/AC inverter that provides sustainable and uninterrupted electricity generated by the solar photo-voltaic array. We also installed solar-powered lighting on the school grounds last month in a joint project with the Rotary Club of Bangkok South.
Located in the mountainous region of Bueng Nakhon over an hour’s drive from the Hua Hin city center, the school and the local villagers do not have access to the national electricity grid but a limited amount of solar power is in use. We look forward to continuing our relationship for the education and well-being of the children as we UNITE FOR GOOD in the spirit of Rotary!
