Our Rotarians visited the students and teachers of Ban Nern Phayom School to hand over 20 footballs, basketballs and volleyballs as well as 50 kilograms of rice on 29 August. The group then proceeded to Bueng Nakhon School to donate another 50 kilograms of rice and inspect our renewable energy project that supplies electricity for the school’s operation.
Both schools are located in a remote, undeveloped region near Pran Buri reservoir about a 90-minute drive from the Hua Hin city center. There is no national electricity grid in the mountainous area and the schools and local villagers rely on solar power systems and generators powered by fossil fuels to meet their electricity needs.
We have an ongoing relationship with Bueng Nakhon School and provided sporting equipment, library books and other educational supplies for their students last year. The total 100 kilograms of rice was sponsored by our member Rotarian Andrew’s family to augment the food supplies of both schools.
