Rotarians of all four Rotary clubs in Area 16 of District 3330 gathered together on the beach in Khao Takiab to commemorate World Polio Day on 24 October. In attendance were the members, families and friends of RC Royal Hua Hin, RC Hua Hin, RC Pran Buri and RC Prachuap Khirikhan as well as the Hua Hin municipality and the Hua Hin & Cha-am Tourism Association.
The city mayor of Hua Hin Mr. Nopporn Wutthikul opened the event in the early morning with our Assistant Governor Ms. Benjaporn Khao-orn of RC Pran Buri who gave an overview of Rotary International’s longstanding effort to eradicate the polio virus around the world. To raise awareness on Rotary International’s 7th Area of Focus on Environmental Preservation, the “People of Action” released to the sea many adult female Blue Swimming crabs, Horseshoe crabs and over 10,000 crab larvae that were propagated by local fishermen under guidance of the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources and the Aquaculture experts of Silpakorn University. The event concluded with a beach-wide cleaning activity to remove any waste that could be found.
