The meeting began with welcoming back our Sergeant-At-Arms Past President Paul from his extended stay in Switzerland and Rotarian Ludger from his trip to Germany. Our Director of Community Service Projects Guenter also returned from Germany where he recently visited the Rotary Club of Berlin Schloss Köpenick and exchanged club banners with their President Jörg.
We were also delighted to welcome Past President Roberto and his son Philip from the Rotary Club of San Francisco Greater Mission, and Roberto gave a brief introduction of his club and their service projects and fundraising activities.
The meeting’s discussion topic led by President Brian was entitled “What is Rotary?”, which was an informational session on Rotary International, Rotary in Thailand, and the inner-workings and history of our club. Rotarian Guenter gave a condensed overview of some of our recent, current and upcoming service projects including our plan to provide new anesthesia equipment for Hua Hin Hospital, as well as renewable energy installations for remote schools.
Our frequent visitor Past President Dougie of the Rotary Club of Bangkok South discussed the long history of our clubs’ development and collaborative efforts as well as the importance of fellowship and friendship. Past President Paul presented our member Professor Charles with the bottle of wine for the day.
