Members of the Rotary Club of Royal Hua Hin & Rotary Club of Hua Hin attended the Hua Hin General Hospital again on 14th December 2018 to formally present a much needed MDH Portable E2 vision flexible endoscope.  The equipment was a combined purchase by the two Rotary Clubs and Hua Hin hospital.  Khun Terdchai, President of RCHH, President Elect Napa Keawtem RCRHH and Director of the hospital handed the equipment formally over to the hospital.

An endoscope is an illuminated optical, typically slender and tubular instrument (a type of borescope) used to look deep into the body and used in procedures called an endoscopy.  "Endo" is Greek for "within" while "scope" comes from the Greek word "skopos" meaning to target or look out. It is used to examine the internal organs like the throat or esophagus. Specialised instruments are named after their target organ.

Examples include the systoscope (bladder), nephroscope (kidney), bronchoscope (bronchus), arthroscope (joints), colonscope  (colon), and laparoscope (abdomen or pelvis).  They can be used to examine visually and diagnose, or assist in surgery such as an arthroscopy.

A demonstration was given by the hospital team on how the endoscope is used.

President Brian Anderson said "The Rotary Club of royal Hua Hin is always delighted to assist in helping provide much needed medical equipment to the local hospitals".
