Please be invited to the handover of one of our joint community service projects with the Rotary Club of Nakhon Pathom to promote literacy, reading comprehension and increase vocabulary for the children at Ban Huay Sai Ngam School at 10:30 am on Tuesday, 29 September.

As part of our club’s Library for Literacy program, we are going to deliver a new set of 160 storybooks in Thai and English language to augment the school’s library. The books were selected by the academics of Chulalongkorn University to promote literacy, increase vocabulary, and develop reader comprehension.

Ban Huay Sai Ngam School educates 157 students with support from the Bright Dawn Foundation, and is located near Nong Phlap village about 40 kilometers west of the Hua Hin city center.

“Children’s books are a powerful tool enhancing the brain development of a young child, especially their all-important language skills. Stories not only bring happiness and enjoyment, but also add new words to a child’s vocabulary, help them develop and practice their comprehension, and lay the foundation for them to understand the concept of reading.” (UNICEF Thailand, 2024)

Please be invited to join our “Ride For Literacy” charity bicycle ride on 3 October. Our club is collaborating with Adventure Cycling Thailand to see the sights of three beautiful bays on the 24-km ride along the coast of Prachuap Khirikhan city.

To expand our club’s educational focus on improving literacy among children, all event proceeds are earmarked for our Library Books for Literacy project to purchase new library books for local schools.

Tour Schedule:

7:45 am - Meet at Hua Hin Clock Tower (near Starbucks)

8:00 am - Depart Hua Hin

6:00 pm - Arrive at Hua Hin

Tour Program:

- 3 Bays: Ao Noi “Little Bay”, Ao Prachuap “Prachuap Bay” and Ao Manao “Lime Bay”

- 8:00 am. Van transport departs Hua Hin Clock Tower to Prachuap Khirikhan City

- Bicycle starting Point at Wat Ao Noi, Teakwood temple at “Little Bay”

- Ao Noi Fishing Pier and commercial fishing industry

- Prachuap City Pillar and Prachuap Museum

- Wing 5 Air Force Base - Dusky Langur Monkeys, WWII Monuments and Ao Manao

- Special Thai-style lunch at Khrua Fa Thalai Chon near Khlong Wan Fishing Pier

- Waghor Aquarium and End Point for bicycle ride

- 4:30 pm. Van departs for Hua Hin and arrives about 6:00 pm

- The cycling route is considered flat and easy with distances up to the rider.

- Cyclists must always be confident on two wheels in light traffic and wear a helmet while on bicycles

- Cyclists with their own bikes are welcome for THB 2,500 per person with our van transport

- Cyclists and cycling clubs are welcome for THB 2,000 if they provide their own bicycle and transport

- Non-cyclists are welcome to ride in the van and enjoy the tour for THB 2,000

Please be invited to the official handover of our newly installed solar power project at Ban Khlong Noi Border Patrol Police School in the mountainous region of Pala-U, Hua Hin on 6 October. The school regularly experiences electrical power failures due to its remote location at the end of the line of the provincial power grid. The renewable energy system comprising 18 rooftop solar photovoltaic panels, DA/AC inverter and lithium battery storage, now ensures uninterrupted electricity for the children studying in their Information Technology classroom. This is another one of our joint community service projects completed with our friends of the Stuttgart Aid for Refugee Orphans from Myanmar e.V.

The school educates 139 students in grades 1 to 6, and our club has a longstanding relationship with the school as we’ve conducted many service projects with them over the years. The school is located about a 75-minute drive from the Hua Hin city center. Depending on the number of our members who register their attendance through our club website, we might organize a van for roundtrip transportation, so please register early so we can plan accordingly.

Please join us for another great evening of camaraderie in our traditional club spirit at 60s Town Hua Hin Restaurant from 6:00 - 8:00 pm on 6 October. Registration is required so be sure to register your names soon because we need to inform the venue of the headcount in advance to ensure adequate food and beverage preparation and to avoid excess food waste.

If you register and then decide that you won’t be able to attend, be sure to delete your names from the registered list on our Club Runner website by 3 October, so we can give the venue an accurate headcount on 4 October.

Also, please be informed that we will ask all registered “no-shows” to pay THB 800 if they do not inform us that they are unable to attend by 3 October.
