Please be invited to the handover of one of our community service projects to promote education and literacy for the children at Baan Nong Krathing School at 10:30 am on 5 June. We completed the renovation of the school’s library with the painting of the walls, ceiling, and bookshelves, the addition of four new tables and 20 chairs, another bookshelf and a ceiling fan. Special thanks to Rotarian Guenter, our director of service projects for organizing this meaningful project for the young students, and our member Dr. Michael with his contribution from the “help4people foundation”.

On 9 March we delivered a set of 160 storybooks in Thai language to augment the school’s library, with great thanks to our friends the Grospietch family for sponsoring the books. The books were selected by the academics of Chulalongkorn University to promote literacy, increase vocabulary, and develop reader comprehension.

Baan Nong Krathing is a government school for 59 children in grades 1 to 8 with eight teachers, and located in a remote, undeveloped region of the Kui Buri subdistrict, about a one-hour’s drive from Bluport Shopping Mall.

“Children’s books are a powerful tool enhancing the brain development of a young child, especially their all-important language skills. Stories not only bring happiness and enjoyment, but also add new words to a child’s vocabulary, help them develop and practice their comprehension, and lay the foundation for them to understand the concept of reading.” (UNICEF Thailand, 2024)

Please be invited to the official handover of our security wall construction project at Ban Khlong Noi Border Patrol Police School in the mountainous region of Pala-U, Hua Hin on 14 August. This is another one of our joint community service projects recently completed with our friends of the Rotary Club of Bangkok South and the Rotary Club of San Francisco Greater Mission. Rotarians from both of these clubs will be joining us for the handover in the morning. Our club has a working relationship with the school and we’ve conducted a number of service projects for them over the years.

There are 130 students in the school, grades 1 to 6, and the remote village is located about a 75-minute drive from the Hua Hin city center. Depending on the number of our members who register their attendance through our club website, we might organize a van or two for roundtrip transportation, so please register early so we can plan accordingly.

Please be invited to the environmental preservation service project where we are sponsoring the planting of 4,000 tree seedlings at Kaeng Krachan National Park on 16 August. It is a collaboration between the following organizations for community engagement and inclusion, and over 250 people are going to take part in the reforestation with 12 indigenous species suitable for the region on 20 rai of vacant land.

Please join us for our next Children's Water Safety & Drowning Prevention training on 2-4 September between 9:00-15:00 at the Navy Phirom Hotel. Fifty children ages 10 to 12 from Anuban Ban Hua Hin Nong Khon School are going to be trained over three days by certified instructors from the Marine Police, Phetkasem Foundation, Hua Hin City Municipality and Hua Hin Hospital.

Please be invited to the handover of one of our joint community service projects with the Rotary Club of Nakhon Pathom to promote literacy, reading comprehension and increase vocabulary for the children at Ban Huay Sai Ngam School at 10:30 am on Tuesday, 29 September.

As part of our club’s Library for Literacy program, we are going to deliver a new set of 160 storybooks in Thai and English language to augment the school’s library. The books were selected by the academics of Chulalongkorn University to promote literacy, increase vocabulary, and develop reader comprehension.

Ban Huay Sai Ngam School educates 157 students with support from the Bright Dawn Foundation, and is located near Nong Phlap village about 40 kilometers west of the Hua Hin city center.

Please be invited to join our “Ride For Literacy” charity bicycle ride on 3 October. Our club is collaborating with Adventure Cycling Thailand to see the sights of three beautiful bays on the 24-km ride along the coast of Prachuap Khirikhan city.

To expand our club’s educational focus on improving literacy among children, all event proceeds are earmarked for our Library Books for Literacy project to purchase new library books for local schools.

Please be invited to the official handover of our newly installed solar power project at Ban Khlong Noi Border Patrol Police School in the mountainous region of Pala-U, Hua Hin on 6 October. The school regularly experiences electrical power failures due to its remote location at the end of the line of the provincial power grid. The renewable energy system comprising 18 rooftop solar photovoltaic panels, DA/AC inverter and lithium battery storage, now ensures uninterrupted electricity for the children studying in their Information Technology classroom. This is another one of our joint community service projects completed with our friends of the Stuttgart Aid for Refugee Orphans from Myanmar e.V.

The school educates 139 students in grades 1 to 6, and our club has a longstanding relationship with the school as we’ve conducted many service projects with them over the years. The school is located about a 75-minute drive from the Hua Hin city center. Depending on the number of our members who register their attendance through our club website, we might organize a van for roundtrip transportation, so please register early so we can plan accordingly.
